See Hasan Minhaj Implore America to Reassess Its Relationship With Saudi Arabia

Former ‘Daily Show’ correspondent criticizes Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and Jamal Khashoggi cover story on ‘Patriot Act’

Hasan Minhaj implored America to reassess its relationship with Saudi Arabia in the aftermath of the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

“Suddenly, America’s marriage of convenience with Saudi Arabia is starting to feel outdated,” the former Daily Show correspondent said Sunday on his new Netflix series Patriot Act.

Minhaj provided a quick overview of the Khashoggi killing, which the Saudi government initially denied before confessing to the journalist’s death by saying it was “an accident after a fistfight.”

“This is the most unbelievable cover story since Blake Shelton won Sexiest Man Alive. Are you kidding me? He’s the fourth sexiest judge on The Voice,” Minhaj said, pinning Khashoggi’s death firmly on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s regime.

“It blows my mind that it took the killing of a Washington Post journalist for everyone to go, ‘Oh, I guess he’s really not a reformer.’ Meanwhile, every Muslim person you know was like, ‘Yeah no shit, he’s the crown prince of Saudi Arabia,'” Minhaj said.

“So now would be a good time to reassess our relationship with Saudi Arabia, and I mean that as a Muslim and an American.”

Minhaj went on to note that, despite Saudi and America’s symbiotic relationship when it comes to oil and arms, the Middle Eastern nation was still the homeland of the majority of the September 11th terrorists, and provided the terrorists with passports.

“Saudi Arabia was basically the boy band manager of 9/11,” Minhaj said. “They didn’t write the song, but they helped get the group together.”
