Gary Oldman Will Direct Jack White Webcast

Gary Oldman is set to direct a Jack White webcast that will be broadcast on Vevo on April 27th from Manhattan’s Webster Hall, the New York Times reports. The concert is the latest in the American Express Unstaged series, which has previously paired Arcade Fire with Terry Gilliam, My Morning Jacket with Todd Haynes, Coldplay with Anton Corbijn and Duran Duran with David Lynch.
“It just fell from the sky,” Oldman told the New York Times of his collaboration with White. “Occasionally you get calls and they just drop in. I didn’t have to think very quickly about it. I just said, ‘Yeah, that sounds very good.'” Oldman told the Times that White selected him after being told by American Express that he could choose any director “within reason.”
Though Oldman is best known as actor with a wide-ranging body of work, he wrote and directed the 1997 film Nil by Mouth.
