Gal Gadot Is the Next Wonder Woman

Comic book nerds cried foul at the idea of Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, but the latest casting move for the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film could prove less controversial: Model/actress Gal Gadot has signed on to play Wonder Woman, according to Variety.
See Four Actors That Would Make a Better Batman Than Ben Affleck
“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe,” says Zack Snyder, the film’s director. “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role.” Gadot is best known for her appearances in three Fast & Furious films.
Though full casting details remain a mystery, Gadot will definitely appear alongside Affleck (as Batman) and Henry Cavill (who appeared as Superman in this year’s blockbuster Man of Steel). It’s also rumored that other members of the Justice League (including the Flash) will make cameo appearances, although the etxent of their roles are unknown.

Even with these exciting developments, some DC Universe fans remain skeptical about the project – particularly those bothered by Affleck’s casting. Even the actor himself wasn’t convinced he was a goot fit when he was originally offered the part.
“Initially I was reluctant, as I felt I didn’t fit the traditional mold,” Affleck told 411mania in October. “But once Zack showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris [Nolan] and Christian [Bale] made but still in keeping with tradition, I was excited.” He later joked about the backlash in a recent interview on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. “I was like, ‘I’m a big boy,'” Affleck said with a laugh. “If I can handle the Emmy snub, I can handle anything!”
Batman vs. Superman, which is slated to begin shooting early next year, is expected to hit theaters on July 17th, 2015.
