‘Friends’ Creator: Reunion ‘Not Happening’

Buzz of a possible Friends reunion built up a major head of steam yesterday, but one of the series’ creators has emphatically shut down the rumors of a new season.

“I’m going to clear this up – it’s not happening!” co-creator Marta Kauffman told E! Kauffman also put to rest talk of a Friends movie, saying that the moment has passed. “Friends was about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you have a family, there’s no need anymore,” she said.

The rumors began on social media with talk of supposed plans for a Thanksgiving 2014 reunion special, and were augmented last week when a Latin American news outlet reported that NBC had ordered a new full season of the show. Entertainment Weekly reports that NBC has confirmed what Kauffman said: there’s no reunion in the works.
