Eminem Brings Home an Oscar

Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” won an Oscar for Best Original Song last night at the seventy-fifth annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
The song, from the film 8 Mile, topped entries from U2 (“The Hands That Built America” from Gangs of New York), Paul Simon (“Father and Daughter” from The Wild Thornberry’s Movie) John Kander and Fred Ebb (“I Move On” from Chicago), and Elliot Goldenthal and Julie Taymor (“Burn It Blue” from Frida).
Eminem was not present at the Oscar ceremony, and his award was picked up by “Lose Yourself” co-writer Luis Resto.
U2, who performed “Hands” at last night’s ceremony, were winners earlier this year for Best Original Song at the Golden Globe Awards.
