Elle Fanning in Talks to Star in Belle and Sebastian Frontman’s Musical
Stuart Murdoch will write and direct 'God Help the Girl'
Elle Fanning is in talks to play a lead role in God Help the Girl, a musical written and directed by Belle and Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch. The film will be based on the 2009 album of the same name, which Murdoch wrote outside of Belle and Sebastian with the help of a variety of female vocalists. The songwriter and producers for the film raised over $100,000 for the project using Kickstarter.
Production on God Help the Girl will begin in June. In addition to Fanning, who is best known for her roles in J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 and Cameron Crowe’s We Bought A Zoo, Enter the Void actor Olly Alexander is reportedly close to signing on to star in the picture.
