Trevor Noah Explains Trump’s Fascination With Hero Dog From Baghdadi Raid
A very good dog who was involved in the raid that led to the death of ISIS leader Abu Baker al-Baghdadi is set to visit the White House, and Trevor Noah has some thoughts on why President Trump is so excited.
“I’m not surprised that Trump invited the dog, because Trump probably loves the dog,” Noah said on Thursday’s Daily Show. “Because the dog has all the traits Trump values — he’s completely loyal, he won’t leak to the press and they both love giving surprise leg humps. It’s just that kind of vibe!”
The pup, whose name is Conan, was reportedly injured when al-Baghdadi detonated a suicide vest he was wearing after U.S. special forces followed him into a tunnel (military officials said Conan will make a full recovery).
Trump has made Conan a big part of his post-raid press push, saying during a press conference, “Our ‘K-9,’ as they call it, I call it a dog, a beautiful dog — a talented dog — was injured and brought back.”
He’s also tweeted out photos of Conan and has now invited him to the White House for a visit next week.
