David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin, the creative dream-team behind the Mark Zuckerberg-chronicling smash The Social Network, are reuniting for another tech-centric biopic – this time focused on Apple founder Steve Jobs. According to Variety, Fincher is in “early talks” to direct the still-untitled film, which was written by Sorkin (and adapted from the 2011 biography Steve Jobs, written by Walter Isaacson).

Sony acquired the rights to the book in 2011. Compiling over 40 interviews between Isaacson and Jobs (in addition to over 100 conversations with Jobs’ friends, family members and business associates), it’s the only authorized biography endorsed by the technology guru prior to his death that same year. Sorkin’s script, which he started writing in 2012 and reportedly finished this year, will focus on three lengthy scenes – each based backstage prior to Apple’s game-changing product launches (specifically the Mac, the NeXT and the iPod).

No actors have been cast in for the project (though it’s hard to imagine the producers will go with someone like Ashton Kutcher in the starring role). The film will be produced by Scott Rudin (Inside Llewyn DavisCaptain Phillips), along with Guymon Casady and Mark Gordon. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak will participate as a consultant.

Fincher’s next film project is the mystery-thriller Gone Girl, which stars Ben Affleck and hits theaters on October 3rd.
