Last night, just one day after Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock teamed up for an impromptu stand-up set at New York’s Comedy Cellar, the duo took the stage again. This time, they brought along a few more friends: the Roots’ drummer Questlove and comedians Kevin Hart, Marlon Wayans and Bill Bellamy.

Questlove posted a photo to Instagram of the five funnymen along with a caption that detailed the night’s events – which, for him, began when he received a text reading, “Get yo arse down here NOW!!!!!” He hightailed it to the club, where up-and-coming comedian Hannibal Buress was performing before Chappelle took the stage.

“Chappelle did an amazing off the top bit about what life will be like in a South African jail with prosthetic legs. . . and the pope quitting his career too,” wrote Questlove of the reclusive comedian’s set. The percussionist also chronicled the night on his Twitter.

Next, keeping with the previous night’s Jay-Z theme, Kevin Hart cracked jokes about spilling drinks on the MC. After that, the group gathered in a circle for “a mini roast/dozens/lovefest about each other.”

“It was honest to god like watching the comic version of ‘scenario’ or ‘the symphony,'” wrote Questlove. “Jokes and punchlines were flying fast. Stories of way back when was told. And I had the best seat in the house.” Chappelle even asked the drummer to play the piano, but Questlove admitted that he took the bench “just to get a good view.”

Chappelle has been stopping by the famed Comedy Cellar this week to test out new material after his long absence from the comedy world. During his set with Rock on Tuesday night, the two teased a possible tour, with Rock telling Chappelle, “You should come down to West Palm,” and Chappelle replying, “After next Tuesday, I’m free for like 11 years.” Rock pointed out that he’s busy filming a new movie in the spring, but left things open: “By Halloween, I could do dates.”
