Bryan Cranston, Jimmy Fallon Reach Peak Goofiness in Fake Soap Opera

Before Bryan Cranston went on to Emmy-winning and cult favorite fame for portraying Walter White on Breaking Bad, the versatile character actor appeared on such television shows as Malcolm in the Middle, The King of Queens, Seinfeld and Suspended Suspense. That last one was a Nineties soap opera that starred Cranston and Jimmy Fallon as brothers, and on Monday’s Tonight Show, the two reminisced about the (totally fake) television show.

Suspended Suspense was canceled after three episodes because, as Cranston and Fallon tell the audience, the director demanded that each scene be filmed with the actors doing wire work, suspended several feet above the ground. “The director was kind of a neat freak, and he didn’t want any shoes to be scuffing up the floor,” Cranston joked.

Fallon then unearths three clips from Suspended Suspense‘s brief three-episode run, with each scene more ludicrious than the next as the two high-flying brothers bicker over their father’s will. “In retrospect, we really should’ve been standing,” Cranston admitted. The only thing more ridiculous than Suspended Suspense is Cranston’s pronunciation of the word “Badonkadonk.”
