Watch BoJack Horseman Battle Despair in Season Five Trailer
BoJack Horseman continues his quest for self-actualization through a haze of booze and “Hollywoo” madness in the new trailer for Season Five of Netflix’s BoJack Horseman. The animated series returns September 14th.
In the new season, BoJack finds himself starring in a new TV drama called Philbert (“It’s confusing, which means the show is daring and smart,” quips his manager, Princess Carolyn). However, career success once again fails to provide the dour horse with any semblance of personal fulfillment.
Though the trailer is filled with a host of cartoon ridiculousness, it’s notably marked by two recurring motifs of despair: BoJack’s late-night existential sigh and his friend Diane’s repeated claim, “You say you want to get better and you don’t know how.”
In a statement, BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg offered a few more details about Season Five. “This season finds BoJack starring in a new TV show called Philbert, playing a character with disturbing parallels to BoJack’s real life, echoes that force BoJack to confront himself and his past in ways large and small, but the main thing that happens this season is Diane gets a haircut,” he said. “We spent a lot of time figuring out the haircut – the style, the volume, the bounce, the sheen – and we’re really proud of the way it came out.”
BoJack Horseman stars Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Aaron Paul and Paul F. Tompkins.
