Ben Affleck, Steven Spielberg Nominated for Directors Guild Awards

Kathryn Bigelow and Ang Lee also up for honor

Ben Affleck and Steven Spielberg are among the nominees for the Directors Guild of America Award for directorial achievement in feature film for 2012, the Los Angeles Times reports. Affleck earned his first DGA nod for Argo, while Spielberg earned his 11th for Lincoln. Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow clinched her second nomination; three years ago, Bigelow became the first female director to win the award (for The Hurt Locker).

The Best Movies of 2012

Ang Lee earned his fourth DGA nomination for Life of Pi and Tom Hooper, who won the award two years ago for The King’s Speech, picked up his second nomination for his adaptation of Les Misérables. Notable snubs included Quentin Tarantino for Django Unchained, Paul Thomas Anderson for The Master and David O. Russell for Silver Linings Playbook, which led the Screen Actors Guild Awards nominees with four nods.

The winner will be announced at the 65th annual DGA Awards dinner on February 2nd, which is hosted by Kelsey Grammer.
