Ben Affleck Confirmed to Direct, Star in Stand-Alone ‘Batman’ Movie

Ben Affleck will direct and star in a new Batman movie, Warner Bros chief Kevin Tsujihara confirmed at CinemaCon, Variety reports.
Tsujihara offered few details about the movie, mentioning it only as he ticked off the 10 DC Comics movies Warner plans to release over the next five years. He also touted the massive $166.1 million opening weekend for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the first movie to feature Affleck as the Caped Crusader.
“It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020,” Tsujihara said of the film. “I’m also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie.”
Affleck also appeared at the event with Batman v Superman co-star Amy Adams, but did not discuss the Batman movie.
Word that Affleck was developing a Batman movie with DC Comics’ chief creative officer Geoff Johns initially surfaced last year. According to initial reports, the movie would follow the events of Dawn of Justice and Justice League, and that production would begin after Affleck finished directing the upcoming prohibition-era crime-drama, Live By Night.
Along with his own forthcoming film, Affleck will appear as Batman in several upcoming DC movies including Suicide Squad and the two Justice League films. The comics giant is also prepping films for Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash.
