‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Shares Epic Trailer

Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman make their debut in mind-blowing preview

It’s hard to top three minutes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens footage, but the epic Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer just dropped major shockwaves on San Diego’s Comic-Con. In this in-depth preview for the film, fans of the DC Comics heroes get their first taste of Jesse Eisenberg as the criminal mastermind Lex Luthor as well as Gal Gadot in the role of Wonder Woman. There are also plenty of explosions, fistfights, shootouts and Batmobiles as the Dark Knight faces off against the Man of Steel.

In the trailer, we also get a better sense of what sparks the battle between Batman and Superman: Bruce Wayne’s Wayne Tower is destroyed and members of his family presumably killed during the Metropolis-destroying showdown in Man of Steel. Wayne, as Batman, seeks revenge against the Caped Crusader but also because he fears Superman “has the power to wipe out the entire human race… and we have to destroy him.”

The trailer concludes with a sneak peek at the main event itself: Superman tearing off the doors of the Batmobile, and Batman standing up to face off against his opponent and fellow superhero. “Black and blue. God versus man. Day versus night,” Eisenberg’s Luthor taunts in the trailer. “The red capes are coming. The red capes are coming.” Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives March 25, 2016.

The new trailer comes just a day after it was revealed that Ben Affleck would direct and star in his own Batman film. Traces of that flick – as well as DC’s villainous Suicide Squad – are hinted in the form of vicious letters Bruce Wayne seems to receive from the Joker, who will be portrayed by Jared Leto starting with Suicide Squad in August 2016. Warner Bros. also gave fans a Suicide Squad teaser at Comic-Con, along with a panel featuring the majority of the film’s cast (minus Leto), IGN reports.
