Bad Behavior Reigns Supreme in ‘Bachelorette’ and ‘For a Good Time, Call…’

Peter Travers weighs in on whether the nastiness is warranted

“This is the weekend of girls gone wild,” says Peter Travers of new movies Bachelorette and For a Good Time, Call Though the former is being talked about as a Bridesmaids-esque romp, Travers notes the way this somewhat uneven comedy revels in its protagonists’ bitchiness sets it apart: “You don’t leave this movie loving anyone, and, you know what, I respect that.”

Next up is For a Good Time, Call…, which stars Lauren Miller (who co-wrote the film) and Ari Graynor as two women who hate each other and are forced to be roommates. Graynor’s character has a phone sex line to make some extra cash, and despite early disapproval, Miller ultimately uses her business savvy to make the venture work. “And they talk dirty,” says Travers. “Ari Graynor is the lightbulb. She, to me, is like Kate Hudson but with talent.”

Travers wants your take: “Do you mind that women in these movies can be so nasty and bitchy? Is that wrong? Or do you fight for their right to be a true bitch?” Let him know in the comments below, on Twitter or via e-mail.
