Over the past few years, TNT Boys have solidified their viral status with performances of hit songs by artists like Beyoncé, Queen and the Supremes. The trio of Keifer Sanchez, 15, Mackie Empuerto, 14, and Francis Concepcion, 13, is also currently competing on James Corden’s new talent show, The World’s Best.
During their appearance on The Late Late Show Tuesday, the trio jokingly revealed that they were so excited to meet Corden at first not because he was huge in the Philippines, but because he’d previously met one of their favorite artists: Ariana Grande. Corden told the TNT Boys to say “Hi” to Grande, noting she sometimes watched the show, though he did not mention that the pop star was, at that moment, waiting backstage.
TNT Boys then broke into their rendition of “And I’m Telling You,” showing off their individual vocal talents and combining for some remarkable three-part harmonies. Halfway through, however, the group got a bit distracted when Grande emerged and eventually corralled the TNT Boys for a mighty finale.
Later in the show, Grande sat down for an interview with Corden, where she discussed her recent milestone, becoming the first solo artist – and the first musical act since the Beatles – to have the top three songs in the country at the same time. “I think it’s so funny, I thought it was hilarious,” Grande said. “When I woke up, I though it was an edit, like my fans made… It’s really wild, my mom and I were driving around listening to the Beatles all day.”
