When is Navarrete vs. Wilson? Date, Time, Location
Navarrete vs. Wilson is happening today, Friday, Feb. 3 at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
The main card is set to begin at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT, and Navarrete and Wilson should walk the ring around 12 a.m. ET / 9 p.m. PT.
Navarrete vs. Wilson Odds, Undercard
Tonight’s fight was originally headlined by a bout between Navarrete and two-division champion Oscar Valdez, but Valdez was forced to withdraw due to an injury. That much-anticipated fight will now take place in the summer, assuming Navarrete can beat Wilson tonight.
And the odds are in Navarrete’s favor tonight: Vegas has the Vaquero as a heavy favorite with moneyline odds of -1600 against Wilson’s +830.
Fighting out of San Juan Zitlaltepec, the 28-year-old Navarrete made his professional debut at just 18 years old. Since then, he’s averaged almost four fights a year, racking up a menacing 36-1 record with 30 knockouts.
Navarrete scored his first belt — the WBO junior featherweight title — in 2018 from Isaac Dogboe. He successfully defended that title five times before moving to featherweight to win the WBO title from Ruben Villa in 2020. He’s held that title ever since, defending three times.
Wilson, on the other hand, has seen about a third as many fights as Navarrete with just a dozen fights (and one loss) under his belt since going pro in 2018. This will be the Australian’s first shot at a world title, and, needless to say, it’ll be a massive upset if he can overpower Navarrete.
But Wilson feels confident in the fact that Navarrete is moving up a weight class. “Throughout his career, it’s been Navarrete who has fought smaller men in smaller weight divisions. But now for the first time, he’s stepping up to a division that, I think, is too big of a leap,” said Wilson, adding, “But he also hasn’t fought anyone with my power before. And that’s going to be a surprise for him on fight night.”
In addition to the fight between Navarrete and Wilson, we’ll get a few exciting bouts before the headliners take to the ring. Here’s the full fight card for tonight’s event:
