Guitar maker Epiphone has teamed up with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong on the Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Player Pack, a new guitar and amp set designed for both beginners and pros alike.
Available at Sam Ash Music, this Les Paul Junior guitar features a pure classic white finish with contrasting black highlights and accents — think two, top-hat knobs (for master volume and tone), a P-90 Dogear pickup, pick guard and headstock. The covered die-cast tuners and a Lightning Bar wraparound bridge come with chrome plating, and the smooth Indian Laurel fingerboard with dotted inlays is easy for any skill level, especially newbies just learning chord formations and quickly jumping around the 22-fret mahogany neck.
Armstrong’s signature details abound — quite literally. The frontman’s autograph is featured on the gig bag, while the Les Paul Junior has his signature on the back of the headstock. Epiphone says Armstrong worked with their team to design the Player Pack and Les Paul, and “had input into the direction of both.”
Armstrong and Green Day have had a monumental career spanning over 30 years and still going strong. The band has released more than 200 songs since forming in 1987, rocketing to worldwide fame with their 1994 album Dookie. That album alone sold more than 20 million copies, earning them their first Grammy, and landing a place on Rolling Stone‘s list of Top 500 Albums of All Time.
“Working with Billie Joe Armstrong over the years has been an absolute honor for our team,” says Aljon Go, Epiphone’s Product Manager. “The new Epiphone Billie Joe Armstrong signature guitars will help inspire a whole new generation of guitarists with an accessible, quality instrument to blaze their path in making music, just as Billie has throughout his Grammy Award-winning career.”
This Signature Series comes as two different guitars in a couple options: a set neck model with a hard case, and a bolt-on neck with an all-inclusive Player Pack, complete with an Epiphone 15G 2 channel (clean and overdrive) amp and full 3-band EQ, along with an auxiliary input for your phone, MP3 or other media player so you can play right along with your favorite Green Day songs.
It’s also compatible with the Gibson app, which lets you tune up, take online lessons and more. Plus there’s a headphone output for late night practice and recording sessions, a gig bag with Billie’s signature, Epiphone strap, cable, electronic clip-on tuner, and three Epiphone picks – everything you need from starting out to hitting the stage.
