Every adult in America has a tangled pile of chargers, cords, and cables somewhere in their household taking up an unreasonable amount of surface area. There is, fortunately, a simple solution to this. All your cords can be wrangled with cord catchers and organizers — small clips that adhere to furniture and keep cords (and sometimes other objects) neatly contained.
What to Look for In Cord Catches
There are a few things we look for when shopping for cord catches.
Adhesive: Because you apply these catchers to your furniture, it’s important that the adhesive material is non-damaging. They should be sticky enough to stay put for a long time and also be easy to remove when you need to.
Size of Clips: Clips with a wide mouth can hold multiple cords at a time, as well as other objects like pens. The downside to wider clips is that thin cords like iPhone chargers may slip right through. These catches also come in a variety of shapes, some with a single clip and others with several.
Appearance: We prefer cord catches that are small and discreet so you can easily hide them behind or under furniture. You can also find clips in a variety of bright colors in case you prefer to use them to jazz up your organizational system.
Quantity: Most of our favorite clips come in packs of around eight, but if you hunt around you can find higher quantities — useful since you’re going to want several of these to tuck your cords and cables away neatly whether in your home office, living room, bedroom or den.
1. Cable Clips Cord Organizer
People love these clips because of their superior sticking power, which adhere to almost any surface (think desk or wall). The manufacturer notes that application takes seven seconds or less, and the opening is versatile enough to hold everything from large TV cables to phone charging cords.
We like the all-black look, which fits it nicely in professional office settings too.
2. Original Cable Clips
These clips are made from an eco-friendly silicone, and are stretchy and bendable enough to accommodate cords and cables of various sizes. Their solid color and small size also make them easy to hide and tuck away, while keeping a firm grip on your cords.
3. BELUGA Cable Clips and Cord Management System
If you’re looking for color, we love these bright little babies. Each cord catch also includes two ridges instead of one, which is handy for organizing multiple cords at a time. We think these work particularly well in the office when you need to easily identify which cable goes with what — just assign a color to each device you have for easy identification.
4. OHill Multipurpose Cable Clips
Not only do these clips come in an extra large pack of 16, they also come in a variety of shapes, which offer a few more options for organizational systems. That’s why we like these for bigger projects or large offices, though they’re great to keep around the house as well (say for a home theater or home audio setup).
Choose from clips with a single ridge, a wrap-around style, dual ridges, triple ridges and even a style with five slots for an all-in-one cable organizing solution.
