1. HP Chromebook x360 14b-ca0010nr

HP Chromebook x360

This model in HP’s Chromebook x360 series is the right gift for a young student who’s engaged in distance learning, or anyone who’s not particularly tech savvy.

The laptop runs ChromeOS, a streamlined operating system based on Google’s Chrome browser. It can’t run as many apps as a Mac or PC, but you’ll have access to the most popular ones — think Microsoft Office and Google’s GSuite. HP says the x360 can get up to 12.5 hours of battery life per charge, which is enough to make it through an entire work or school day. The x360 has a built-in camera for Zoom calls.

This computer is powerful enough to handle tasks like HD video streaming, web browsing, or creating documents, spreadsheets, or slideshow presentations. This isn’t a gaming machine, but it’ll cover all the basics without a hitch. Best of all, ChromeOS doesn’t have a traditional file system like MacOS or Windows, so it’s less susceptible to viruses.

Although it’s not officially on sale, the HP Chromebook x360 is a great deal compared to other laptops in this price range, so we’ve included it here.

If you’re looking for a gift for a gamer, HP’s X1000 speakers are exactly what they need. The stereo speakers come with a subwoofer for improved bass, and an easily accessible volume knob on the right speaker. You can connect them to a PC via a USB cable or 3.5mm audio cable. The V20 HD+’s standout feature is its Low Blue Light mode, which makes the display easier on your eyes when working long hours. If someone you know has been working from home, and needs a little bit of extra space for their work, HP’s V20 HD+ is a very thoughtful present.

This HP Envy laptop can even be used for gaming if you use medium graphics settings. Importantly, the laptop features an HD webcam with a built-in shutter, so you can take zoom calls, and cover the camera when you’re done.

This machine has an AMD Athlon processor, 8GB of memory, a 1TB hard drive and 128GB SSD for storage, and a built-in graphics chip. It’s powerful enough for office work and light image or video editing, but doesn’t have quite enough graphics power for gaming.

HP says its headset is light, and can be worn comfortably during long game sessions despite the fact that it’s packed with really solid audio hardware.
