The first evening of the Republican National Convention focused on “making American safe again,” which translated practically into a four-hour Benghazi-a-thon. Featured speakers included Benghazi attack survivors Mark Geist and John Teigen, who gave a painfully detailed play-by-play of their experiences that night; former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who did his best impression of your amped-up racist uncle; and FLOTUS hopeful Melania Trump, who cribbed a significant portion of her otherwise unremarkable speech from Michelle Obama.
Then, of course, there was Donald Trump himself, who made a surprise appearance on the first night of the convention to introduce his wife. In a stage entrance that was more WWE than President of the United States, Trump walked out to Queen’s “We Are the Champions” — used without permission, naturally.
The crowd got in on the action, chanting “Lock her up,” egged on by multiple speakers who made the case that Hillary Clinton should be behind bars.
Although hopes were pinned on Scott “Chachi” Baio saying something out-there, he stayed on message, stating, “We need Donald Trump.” Watch some of the most bizarre moments of the night above.
