Watch Mitt Romney Demand Pancakes in Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ Promo

Former ‘Colbert Report’ host teases new late-night era with hilariously lame magic trick, Charlie Rose Trapper Keeper

Stephen Colbert takes over as The Late Show host on September 8th, and he’s released a trio of promo clips to hype the new CBS era. “I’ll talk about the news, tell jokes and have fascinating conversations with celebrities, athletes, musicians and, of course, politicians,” he says in the first video, which pans to reveal a man who looks exactly like Mitt Romney. Colbert tells the former presidential hopeful that he does a “great Mitt Romney” – that’s because it’s actually him. “Where are my pancakes?” the politician demands. “I was told there’d be pancakes.”

In the second clip, Colbert tries his hand at magic, telling the viewing audience to “think of a card.” When he pulls one out of the deck at random, he boasts that “2 percent of you just freaked out!”

The third promo finds an eager Colbert gearing up for the fall like a sixth-grader prepping for the new school year: “I already got my new book bag and my Charlie Rose Trapper Keeper!”

Colbert closed out his iconic Colbert Report run in December and began teasing his new gig with a series of promos – including the hilarious “Lunch With Stephen” web series. His first teaser clip, posted six months after his Colbert Report finale, found the host shaving his “Colbeard” to mark the beginning of a new era.

Last month, Colbert revealed his Late Show bandleader, Louisiana jazz musician Jon Batiste, in a surreal video full of melodica solos and New Orleans desserts.
