Watch Larry David’s Hilarious ‘SNL’ Bernie Sanders Impersonation

‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ star makes a guest appearance as cantankerous Presidential candidate

This week’s episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Tracy Morgan, peaked early with the show’s most brilliant casting coup since Tina Fey transformed herself into Sarah Palin. It may have been inevitable that SNL‘s cold-opening skit was going to riff on the first Democratic debate, but the sketch still managed to be full of surprises, including Alec Baldwin as frustrated Senator Jim Webb and — in the role that he’s been rehearsing to play for his entire adult life — Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David as curmudgeonly firebrand Bernie Sanders.

From the perfect hair (or lack thereof) to the angry hand motions and the righteous fury of the doomed, the Seinfeld co-creator was a dead ringer for the 74-year-old junior Senator from Vermont, striking the perfect balance between spirited revolutionary and impatient Jewish grandpa. He even threw in a little homage to his former creative partner for good measure, with a quick “What’s the deal with emails, anyway?”

Now that the bar has been raised this high, David better clear his schedule so long as Sanders’ campaign stays alive.
