As Colbert explained, Trump now trails Ted Cruz in most Wisconsin polls, and also boasts huge unfavorability ratings in the state as well as the rest of the U.S. But such numbers haven’t seemed to faze Trump, who doubled down in a graphic he posted to Twitter boasting his 37 percent poll number in Wisconsin — while noting Cruz’s 38 percent in a much smaller font.
Cartoon Trump stuck to the same script, telling Colbert, “My numbers could crush Ted Cruz’s numbers in a pay-per-view fight in my Las Vegas hotel. The best buffet — so much shrimp you’ll think you died and they dumped your body in the ocean.”
The animated candidate went on to insist that he’d still get “the biggest votes” in Wisconsin, but continued to confuse the numerical increase of individual digits with writing random numbers in larger and larger lettering.
“You can’t win an election just by increasing your font size,” Colbert tried to explain.
“Stephen, I guarantee I’ve never been accused of having a small font,” Cartoon Trump cracked. “Believe you me, it is Helvetica Bold.”
