Watch Cartoon Donald Trump Admit Campaign ‘Charade’ on ‘Colbert’

“I’m the greatest character actor of all-time,” animated Trump says on ‘Late Show.’ “Meryl Streep can kiss my ass!”

It’s easy to question whether Donald Trump is Punk-ing the Republican party, one controversial soundbite and hostile rally at a time. A cartoon version of the GOP candidate confirmed the theory on Tuesday’s Late Show, telling Stephen Colbert that his actions were part of one massive “long con.”

“A lot of Republicans fear the very thing that’s made him so popular in the primaries will doom Trump and the entire Republican party in the general election,” the host said, setting up the bit. “Trump aide and future Joe Pesci character Paul Manafort recently told a closed-door meeting of worried Republican leaders that Trump’s outrageous public persona is ‘all an act.'”

“Who’s the real Donald Trump?” the host asked. “Is he a cartoonish egomaniac … or an entirely different kind of maniac?”

Cartoon Trump then sat down for a chat, dropping his accent to reveal a more sophisticated tone. “Come on, now, old bean – you didn’t seriously think I believe what I was saying during this campaign?” he asked. “If so, you’re even crazier than I’ve been pretending to be.”

He explained that his behavior has been a “charade, a bit of razzle-dazzle for the peasants in the cheap seats,” adding, “I’m the greatest character actor of all-time. Meryl Streep can kiss my ass!”
