Trump Campaign Enlists Children to Sweeten Jingoist, Racist Message
Donald Trump‘s special brand of boot-in-your-ass jingoism now has an official soundtrack thanks to the Freedom Girls, a Pensacola, Florida, trio that debuted “The Official Donald Trump Jam” Wednesday at a rally for the Republican presidential hopeful.
The surreal, saccharine song boasts the finest in Midi drum loop technology and a pulsing synth melody that Blondie might want to consider taking to court. The Freedom Girls meanwhile, clad in American flag outfits, pumped up the audience with a rousing dance routine and lyrics about making America great again, sans all the xenophobia and racism. Among the most fetching gems: “Ameritude, American pride / It’s attitude, it’s who we are / Stand up tall” and “Deal from strength or get crushed every time!”
The crowd was suitably enthralled and jazzed by the performance. In fact, approximately 52-seconds in, a woman in the second row was thrown into such a patriotic fit that she — bless her heart — started clapping on beats one and three.
“The Official Donald Trump Jam” should be a boon to the real estate mogul’s campaign, which has struggled to secure the perfect stump song. Aerosmith, Neil Young and R.E.M. have all slammed the candidate for using their music at rallies without permission, and only Twisted Sister has given Trump the thumbs up to use their 1984 hit, “We’re Not Gonna Take It.”
