Canadian rockers the Tea Party are planning to sell the domain name of their official website to the supporters of the right wing political movement of the same name in the United States. Despite the massive popularity of the movement, the band’s website has been among the top Google results for the phrase “tea party,” which has led the band to use the tag line “No politics… just rock and roll” on the page.

“So much damage has been done to our name by the political movement that we’re considering selling [the website],” Tea Party bassist Stuart Chatwood told Business Week. Though the band do not support the movement, they say they will sell the domain to the highest bidder, mainly to support their families.

While the band plan to sell the URL, they will remain active as a group. The Tea Party, who scored a Number One hit in Canada with “Heaven Coming Down” in 1999, have recently reunited for a Canadian tour.
