Obama Heckles GOP Candidates Over Debate Whining
President Obama was in New York Wednesday for a Democratic fundraiser. He spoke to the audience following a production of Hamilton at the Richard Rogers Theater.
It was senior spring Obama was in peak form — President DGAF was ribbing conservatives in Congress like he will never have to cut another budget deal with them again.
He discussed climate change, with an analogy about food: “You go to 100 doctors and 99 of ’em tell you, ‘You’ve got diabetes, you’ve got to stop eating bacon and donuts everyday, and we’ve got to monitor your health, we’ve got to fix this.’ You wouldn’t say, ‘Oh, that’s just a conspiracy. They’re making that up. All 99 of those doctors got together — with Obama — to try to prevent me from having bacon and donuts,” the president said to titters from the crowd.
“[T]he planet is warming, 99 percent of scientists have said it is warming, and we’ve got the Republican chairman of the Senate Energy and Environment Committee carrying a snowball into the Senate chambers to show that there is still snow and climate change isn’t happening,” he added, barely containing his own laughter. “I am not making that up! That happened.”
Obama reserved his best jokes for the Republicans running for his job. “Every one of these candidates say, ‘Obama’s weak, Putin’s kicking sand in his face. When I talk to Putin, he’s gonna straighten out.’ … And then it turns out they can’t handle a bunch of CNBC moderators!”
“I mean let me tell you: if you can’t handle those guys,” Obama said, laughing, “I don’t think the Chinese and the Russians are going to be too worried about you.”
