Join us today at 3 pm ET for a live chat – courtesy of PBS Frontline and NPR’s Planet Money – on the way forward for quake-ravaged Haiti.
Contributing editor Janet Reitman, whose recent Rolling Stone story, “How the World Failed Haiti,” detailed how the rebuilding effort there turned into a “disaster of good intentions” will join Lionel Pressoir and Adam Davidson – and you – to talk about the situation in Haiti and the way forward.
Pressoir was once a wealthy furniture exporter with homes in New York City and Paris. He has a vision for a new Haiti: making the small, poor town of Milot, Haiti into a travel destination for people from all over the world. Davidson, a NPR Planet Money reporter who’s been covering post-quake economics in Haiti, journeyed to meet Pressoir and find out how he plans to pull off such an ambitious transformation and what inspired him to try. (Watch Davidson’s report, “An Optimist in Haiti,” here.)
