Miss Gaga went to Washington Tuesday to further her anti-bullying efforts.

The 25-year-old pop star visited the White House to brief staffers on her burgeoning non-profit organization, the Born This Way Foundation, set for launch in 2012. She did not meet with President Obama, who was in Kansas to deliver a speech on the economy, but she did meet with senior advisor Valerie Jarrett.

Lady Gaga is a source of strength for many young people who feel isolated and scared at their schools,” wrote Jarrett on the White House blog. “Today, I had the opportunity to welcome her to the White House, where we discussed ways we could work together to make sure that no child comes under attack, regardless of his or her race, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other factor.”

Last month, Gaga announced that she was pairing with the MacArthur Foundation and Harvard University to create the Born This Way Foundation, which will fight bullying and support young people’s confidence and career development. She previously spoke about anti-bullying efforts with President Obama at a re-election event in September and is currently forming an advisory board with her co-founder, mother Cynthia Germanotta.
