Jon Stewart: NYT’s “Latte Leftists” Buried Kerry Hit on Page A1

This week, Joe Scarborough of MSNBC’s Morning Joe called foul on the article that The New York Times published on Tuesday about Mitt Romney’s under-construction home mansion in La Jolla, California. As Jon Stewart explained on last night’s Daily Show, Scarborough viewed this as biased coverage against Romney, asking, “Did the New York Times ever dispatch reporters to John Kerry’s homes” in 2004, when the Democratic senator was running for president against George W. Bush? No, they didn’t!!!
Except – they did!!! Scarborough’s co-host Willie Geist read from a Times piece in 2004 that detailed the glamour of Kerry’s lifestyle in all its glory. Kerry is so rich and so elitist, in fact, that “he also had fifteenth-century serfs cloned and reanimated by scientists,” Stewart added. But Scarborough still had a point. Stewart pointed out that the coverage of Romney’s wealth really was harsher: “So the latte leftists at the Times once buried a Kerry elitism story on page A1 of the popular Sunday edition just four weeks before the national election. That’s pulling punches when compared to running a Romney story in The New York Times‘ famed Home section, known throughout the world as The New York Times has a home section!?!‘” Watch:
