“Here’s the thing — if Donald Trump is elected President of the United States, in a kind of historical way it’s exciting because we will see the actual last President of the United States,” Depp said. “It just won’t work after that.” Depp commented while promoting Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Depp has had sharp words about Trump, telling students at a Q&A at Arizona State University, “There’s a pretense. There’s something created about him in the sense of ‘bullydom.’ But what he is, I believe, is a brat.”
Those comments came not long after the actor portrayed Trump in a faux-biopic for Funny or Die based on the presumptive Republican nominee’s business book, Art of the Deal. Depp secretly shot the 50-minute movie over four days last December and delivered a startlingly nuanced imitation of Trump. However, the mogul could not rate the actor’s impression when asked about his favorite imitators (Jimmy Fallon and Darrell Hammond) because he’d yet to see the movie. Trump said of Depp portraying him: “There’s a difference, physically, I can say … but I think he’s a great actor.”
