Johnny Depp: Donald Trump Is a Brat
During a recent appearance at Arizona State University, Johnny Depp spoke candidly about his disdain for Donald Trump. The actor had previously imitated the frontrunner for the GOP’s presidential nomination in a Funny or Die film.
Depp was part of a Q&A at ASU where he discussed his role in the comedy website’s faux-biopic based on Trump’s business book Art of the Deal. The Hollywood Vampires guitarist used the platform to condemn the real estate mogul-turned-politician. “It’s not just about being a rich kid or anything like that,” he said. “There’s a pretense. There’s something created about him in the sense of bullydom. But what he is, I believe, is a brat.”
Before doing an impression of Trump for the college students, Depp dissected the candidate’s comments on building a wall between the United States and Mexico to keep illegal immigrants out of the country. “Also the absurdity of where his sentences might travel,” he began. “Reagan back in the day, ‘Mr. Gorbachev, tear down that wall!’ Donald Trump, ‘I’m going to build a wall, and all of my billions are not going to have to pay for it. Because you know why? Mexico is going to pay for it.'”
Depp had shot the top-secret short film for Funny or Die over four days in December. Patton Oswalt, Alfred Molina, Jack McBrayer, Andy Richter, Henry Winkler and SNL alum Michaela Watkins starred alongside Depp in the Eighties-set film. The film debuted on the site the day Trump won the New Hampshire primary.Watch late-night hosts call out Donald Trump’s supporters.
