Hillary Clinton isn’t intimidated by Donald Trump. The Democratic presidential hopeful made her case against the Republican frontrunner Thursday night on The Tonight Show, laughing at Jimmy Fallon’s mere mention of Trump’s name. “If I’m so fortunate to be the Democratic nominee, obviously I’ll run against whoever they nominate,” she says in the clip. “But if it’s Donald Trump, it’ll be quite the showdown.”
Clinton laughs at Fallon’s claim that she’s “dodging the [Republican] debates,” admitting that she “love(s) to be able to fast-forward.” She says husband Bill often joins her to watch them, offering a “running commentary,” noting that she isn’t concerned how often she’s trashed by the GOP candidates. “You should have a drinking game – every time they say your name, you do a shot,” Fallon observes. “Well, I don’t think I’d make it past the first half-hour,” Clinton says.
Elsewhere in their wide-ranging interview, Fallon and Clinton record a goofy Snapchat where the host’s eyes pop out; Clinton also admits that, during her run as Secretary of State, she was “perpetually in a sleep deficit” due to her hectic schedule, often digging her fingernails into her palms to stay awake during important public events.
Clinton also addresses her close race with Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination (“That’s really artificial, all those early soundings and polls. Once you get into it, this is a Democratic election for our nominee, and it gets really close, exciting”) and spells out her qualifications for the presidency in a mock interview. After asking about her various skills (including typing), Fallon playfully jabs, “Is there an e-mail address [where] we can reach you?”
