“High Noon 4 Healthcare” Or: Further Adventures in AstroTurf Activism

Americans for Prosperity, Conservatives for Patients’ Rights and their allies have a cooked up a new anti-healthcare coalition called “High Noon 4 Healthcare” designed to “jam up” Senate phone lines as the fight for 60 votes comes to a head.

Check out this latest adventure in AstroTurf organizing as detailed in an email to the Conservatives for Patients’ Rights listserv obtained by Rolling Stone:

1) I’d encourage anyone on this list to consider joining the High Noon 4 Healthcare coalition to coordinate calls into senate offices so we can really jam up their phone lines. It’s a very simple project. Basically, you agree to be a part of the coalition and agree to get your members to call on the designated day. The website about it will be up Friday and will post links to all the coalition members’ pages. If you are interested, contact me: [emailredacted]@gmail.com. I work with Patients First but this is not a Patients First project – this is a coalition effort!

2) Patients First is holding events in many of these moderate/Blue Dog states. Upcoming events will be in AR, LA, NE, and CO specifically. We really need your help driving people to them. I can send you a list of
specific event locations and times or you can see them on the website.

UPDATE: Add FreedomWorks to that phone jamming effort, as revealed in this email to the same CPR google group by Max Pappas, FreedomWorks’ Vice President of public policy:

FreedomWorks is jamming Congressional phone lines right now and will continue to do so. We’ve updated our popular war room (http://www.freedomworks.org/online-war-room) and just sent out another call
to action to about 400,000 online members, which is posted below if anyone would like to borrow some of the language…
