‘Daily Show’ Sends Off Ben Carson With ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ Parody

Roy Wood Jr., Jessica Williams send off America’s favorite sleepwalker with hilarious Puff Daddy parody

The Daily Show bid a bittersweet farewell to ex-Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson Monday with an emotional parody of Puff Daddy’s Police-sampling Notorious B.I.G. tribute, “I’ll Be Missing You.”

The bit was preempted by a eulogy from correspondent Roy Wood Jr., who defended Carson not as a candidate, but an inspiration to the black community. “We just lost another black hero,” Wood lamented. “First it was O.J., then it was Cosby, Kanye’s barely keeping it together — black people can’t afford to lose heroes. We don’t have that many. White people lose heroes and keep it moving. You think white people miss Lance Armstrong?”

Wood then sent off Carson with a proper goodbye, cracking, “Dr. Carson, while you may never again be welcome at a black barber shop, if I ever become a conjoined twin, I want you to do the surgery.”

He then rolled his “I’ll Be Missing You” send-up, which featured fellow correspondent Jessica Williams crooning, “Every nap you take, every belt you break / You sucked at debates, a bad candidate / I’ll be missing you.”
