Bono Draws Laughs With Bill Clinton Impression

Singer adopts exaggerated accent while waiting for late host

Bono: singer, activist and, apparently, celebrity impressionist: The U2 frontman offered his take on Bill Clinton yesterday at this year’s Clinton Global Initiative in New York. When the former president made a late entrance after forgetting some notes backstage, Bono hopped into Clinton’s chair and began reminiscing, in an exaggerated Arkansas drawl, about the first time Clinton met Bono. “He walked into the Oval Office, and actually I thought it was a member of his own road crew,” Bono joked about himself. When Clinton emerged a minute later, he looked around ruefully and said, “I must be really easy to make fun of.”

The Clinton Global Initiative seeks “innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges,” and members have committed to addressing specific issues relating to topics including the environment, education, energy, women’s rights and global health. Bono, participating yesterday on a panel moderated by Clinton, criticized corporate corruption in the oil and gas industry for “killing more kids than TB, AIDS and malaria put together,” according to The Huffington Post
