Bill O’Reilly: Why Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders ‘Are the Same Guy’
Bill O’Reilly discussed the similarities between Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders on The Late Show Monday, telling Stephen Colbert that both candidates “were really the same guy, they just change their facial expressions.”
Amidst some concerned “Ooh”‘s from the audience, Colbert jumped to note: “I’ve never seen them in the same room at the same time!”
But O’Reilly did point out that Trump and Sanders are both “tapping into the anger of the voter who feels like he’s getting hosed,” though the roots of that fear and anger are drastically different. As the Fox News anchor noted, Trump supporters fretted over unsafe borders, illegal immigrants and the self-described Islamic State, while Sanders backers were concerned about a rigged economy run by the wealthiest Americans.
O’Reilly even jumped on the Sanders impression wagon, though the native New Yorker’s approximation of a Brooklyn accent was so jarring it caused Colbert to crack, “I’m sorry, did you just have a stroke just now? I don’t understand what you’re doing.”
