Bernie Sanders to Appear With Larry David on ‘SNL’ This Weekend

The candidate is slated to make a cameo on the episode hosted by his doppelgänger, Larry David

This weekend, Bernie Sanders will come face-to-face with his doppelgänger — comedian Larry David — on Saturday Night Live.

Speculation that Sanders would make a cameo on SNL has run rampant since NBC announced David, who’s impersonated the presidential hopeful several times this campaign season, would host.

The Washington Post, citing an anonymous source, was the first to report that Sanders would make an appearance on the show Saturday. A senior campaign official confirmed the report to the Sanders press pool Friday afternoon.

Sanders will travel to New York on the day of the taping, leaving the campaign trail in New Hampshire, where he’s enjoying a 20-point lead over his rival, Hillary Clinton, in advance of the state’s primary Monday.

Clinton and Sanders faced off in an at times heated debate Thursday evening, in which the two candidates did their best to differentiate themselves for primary voters.

Clinton made her own SNL appearance in October, as Val, a bartender with some sage advice for “Hillary Clinton,” played by cast member Kate McKinnon. Donald Trump — who continues to lead Republicans in the New Hampshire polls — hosted the show in November. Larry David famously (and jokingly) heckled Trump during Trump’s monologue.

The finer details of Sanders’ appearance are unknown at this point, though it’s assumed the real Sanders and the fake Sanders will meet in some way. Could there be a riff on his socialist-politician brother, whose actual name is Larry? Or will he reprise his role as Rabbi Manny Shevitz?
