Obama says it was innocent — he turned to talk to Senator McCaskill when she asked him an ill-timed question. But perception in these moments is reality. These photos create the perception that's now got a name.
None of this would be important, of course, if Obama's central narrative weren't as a transcendent unifier.
"The snub," when taken in concert with the "you're likable enough, Hillary" comment in the New Hampshire debate, raises a fair-enough question for Obama:
How can you say you're above the petty divisions and the smallness of politics, when you can't even appear to be gracious to a member of your own party?
