About that “Snub”

It’s hard to get more high school than this snub business.

OMG, did you see, like, at the State of the Union, when Hillary went over to Teddy to shake his hand, and, like, Barack totally turned his back…

Obama says it was innocent — he turned to talk to Senator McCaskill when she asked him an ill-timed question. But perception in these moments is reality. These photos create the perception that’s now got a name.

None of this would be important, of course, if Obama’s central narrative weren’t as a transcendent unifier.

“The snub,” when taken in concert with the “you’re likable enough, Hillary” comment in the New Hampshire debate, raises a fair-enough question for Obama:

How can you say you’re above the petty divisions and the smallness of politics, when you can’t even appear to be gracious to a member of your own party?
