20 Dumbest Things Republican Candidates Said in 2015

This was the year Donald Trump held the Republican Party hostage. In poll after poll, GOP voters said they loved him in large part because he speaks his mind.
As such, the below list of the wildest quotes uttered by Republican presidential candidates this year is largely dominated by The Donald — though he by no means was the only candidate saying out-there things this year. There were plenty of head-scratchers to go around.
1. “[Mexico is] sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” -Donald Trump, in his announcement speech, setting the tone for his campaign
2. “The pyramids were made in a way that they had hermetically sealed compartments…. You would need that if you were trying to preserve grain for a long period of time.” -Ben Carson, on the Egyptian pyramids
3. “Hell yeah, I would! You gotta step up, man.” -Jeb Bush, on whether he’d travel back in time to kill baby Hitler, given the chance
4. “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?” -Donald Trump, on Carly Fiorina
5. “Go back to Univision.” -Donald Trump to Univision anchor Jorge Ramos
6. “Malala” -Marco Rubio, on the non-politician he’d most like to have a beer with, referring to Malala Yousafzai: a teenager and a practicing Muslim
7. “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her… wherever.” -Donald Trump, on Megyn Kelly’s tough questions for him during the Fox News GOP debate
8. “I, for one, don’t think Planned Parenthood ought to get a penny… because they’re not actually doing women’s health issues.” -Jeb Bush
