In the nearly 14 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, we've seen countless images depicting the events of that day and its aftermath, some of which have become iconic.

Now, the U.S. National Archives has released a cache of more than 350 photos that had not previously been seen by the public, showing how then Vice President Dick Cheney and other members of the Bush administration and their families – among them Condoleezza Rice, Scooter Libby, George Tenet, Laura Bush and Lynne Cheney – reacted on September 11 to the news that America was under attack.

The National Archives posted the images on Flickr as part of a Freedom of Information Act request filed by a producer who's made films about the Bush administration for the PBS documentary series Frontline.

The same producer, Colette Neirouz Hanna, successfully FOIA'd another batch of images of Cheney and his staff last month.

Neirouz Hanna explained to The Boston Globe why she wanted the images to become public. "From the first moments after the attacks on the World Trade Center, Vice President Cheney has been at the center of much of the government's response," she told the paper, via email. " We knew he had a photographer assigned to take pictures of almost everything he did and have been trying to obtain those pictures — from inside the secret bunker under the White House to the 'undisclosed secure locations' where he spent the weeks after September 11, 2001. Now, 14 years later we finally have those photographs and the American people can see for themselves what took place in those first 24 hours."

Here are some of the newly released images.
