Kacey Musgraves joined Weezer on stage Wednesday night at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater for an acoustic rendition of the band's classic "Island in the Sun." Musgraves added harmony vocals and sang lead on the second verse of the song, giving it what Weezer later tweeted was "the proper Nashville rendition" of their Green Album hit.
"It instantly puts people's hands in the air and smile on their faces," Musgraves once told Cosmopolitan magazine of the 2001 song, which she regularly covers in her own sets.
Weezer’s Nashville stop was part of the band's extensive summer tour with Panic! at the Disco. Musgraves was enjoying some downtime at home in Nashville before her North American tour resumes later this week. As of late, Musgraves has also been at work in the studio on a Christmas record due later this year.
