One day before the one-year anniversary of Jack Bruce's death, a collection of the Cream bassist's friends, family and fellow band mates – including Cream drummer Ginger Baker, Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera, Living Colour's Vernon Reid, Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, Bruce's daughter Aruba Red and many more – took part in the Sunshine of Your Love tribute concert to celebrate Bruce's legacy. The event, which took place Saturday night at London's Roundhouse, raised money for Bruce's favorite charity, East Anglia's Children's Hospices.
The tribute concert's repertoire was handpicked by Bruce's family and featured a mix of Bruce's Cream work alongside solo tracks like "Tickets to Waterfalls" and "Rope Ladder to the Moon." The performance culminated with an encore where everyone involved appeared onstage to deliver an all-star rendition of Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" and "We're Going Wrong," which was sung by Aruba Red.
In a statement, Sunshine of Your Love musical director Nitin Sawhney said, "Jack Bruce was one of my biggest heroes when I was growing up – a consummate musician, composer and all round rock genius with a killer voice and one of the most creative and versatile musical minds of his generation. Being asked to musically direct this show celebrating his life and work is a great honor and privilege and I look forward to working with an amazing line up of contemporary artists and rock legends."
