Maxwell has released his video for "Lake by the Ocean." The song hails from his forthcoming album, BlackSUMMERS'night, which will be release on July 1st via Columbia Records.
In the Philip Andelman-directed clip, a woman is seen fetching jugs of water alongside others in a small Spanish-speaking village. Later, she hitchhikes and finds herself at an intimate café where Maxwell is performing. She begins to groove to the sultry song. "We'll be one like drops in slow motion / Lake by the ocean" Maxwell soulfully croons. Later he hits his signature falsetto while singing "All I see is love."
Scenes between the café and the two caressing one another are interspersed in the sensual video. In a statement, Maxwell described the video, saying it "depicts a world in need of water and two clandestine lovers who meet with liquid dreams, one being the bare-boned need for clean water, and another, the performer, who wants to be lost in the watery worlds of love and devotion."
BlackSUMMERS'night is Maxwell's first album in seven years. It's the second album in a trilogy that was launched with 2009's similarly-titled BLACKsummers'night. The singer will embark on a tour this summer.
