Andra Day has teamed with director M. Night Shyamalan on the video for "Rise Up," an inspiring anthem off the soul singer's new LP Cheers to the Fall.
Although the director is most known for his supernatural storylines, plot twists and surprise endings, Shyamalan relays a simple, emotional tale over the course of the "Rise Up" video as he follows a young couple – a woman and her paralyzed boyfriend – on a laugh-filled, day-long date.
Shyamalan is the second Oscar-nominated director to helm a music video this week, following Paul Thomas Anderson's stunning clip for Radiohead's "Daydreaming." The Sixth Sense filmmaker is also the second Academy Awards-nominated director to shoot a music video for Day after Spike Lee crafted her debut "Forever Mine."
In addition to the Shyamalan-directed video for "Rise Up," Day also unveiled an "Introspective" version of the video, featuring the singer walking through a lush forest.
