Drake's "Hotline Bling" was easily one of 2015's biggest pop hits, thanks to a combination of approachable hooks and a meme-generating video. It lives on as part of Drake's Views, already one of 2016's biggest albums.
The song has already inspired numerous cover versions by everyone from Erykah Badu to Sufjan Stevens. The latest to get in on the action is pop-country star Kelsea Ballerini, who turned in a brief, acoustic version of the song for Perez Hilton. Backed by only her guitarist, Ballerini — currently promoting her single "Peter Pan" — adds some soulful embellishments to Drake's melodies, stretching "That can only mean one thing" out in the lightly raspy tone that's become her signature.
Beginning June 30th, Ballerini will co-host the new ABC series Greatest Hits with Arsenio Hall, exploring the biggest hits from different eras. Additionally, she is nominated for Female Video of the Year for her song "Dibs," at the upcoming CMT Awards.
