If Lyric Michelle were a chef, her specialty would be food for thought. The Chicago-born, Houston-raised poet, singer and MC makes a powerful statement about love in her latest song and video, "The Motive," which premieres exclusively on Yahoo Music.

On the song featuring Kitty Beebe and produced by Chris Rockaway, Lyric questions the future of her relationship, asking, "Am I expendable to you/Throw me away once we're threw." The video, directed by Ron West Radom, finds a woman prostituting herself in a hopeless attempt to please her pimp/boyfriend. In one troubling scene, she proudly gives him the money from a job, but when he dismisses her, he pushes her into deeper depression.
