Drake's Summer Sixteen tour rolled into the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit Tuesday night, where the Motor City's own Eminem joined the rapper onstage. During a performance of their 2009 joint hit "Forever," Eminem elevated onto the stage without warning, stunning fans.
"Detroit, make some noise for the greatest rapper to ever get on the motherfucking microphone; he goes by the name of Eminem," Drake told the crowd. "Legendary shit tonight." Eminem responded, "It’s an honor to share the stage with this man right here."
Eminem's appearance at Drake's Detroit gig comes days after rumors that Slim Shady was preparing to unload a Drake diss track. Hot 97's Ebro Darden previously warned Drake that Eminem might be prepping the track as a result of the Toronto rapper's beef with Joe Budden. "'That’s not gonna happen.' [Drake]'s like, ‘He’d never do that. And if he did, I got something for him, too," Darden said (via HipHopDX).
Budden himself downplayed Eminem's involvement in a follow-up Drake diss track titled "Just Because," rapping that Eminem had actually recommended that Budden stop beefing with Drake.
On Instagram, Drake posted a photo with Eminem that he gloated about sharing the stage with "the GOAT." Eminem's appearance follows LeBron James' surprise Summer Sixteen cameo in Columbus, Ohio this weekend.
