Sampha turned Drake's Views hit "Controlla" into a sweeping piano ballad on BBC Radio 1's "Live Lounge" Tuesday. The song can be heard on the BBC website and begins at 2:14:17.

The British R&B star completely does away with the dancehall vibe of "Controlla" and instead crafts a deft piano arrangement intermittently accentuated with trembling strings. Sampha delivers an equally robust vocal performance as well, belting the hook — "Knowing I'd die for you/ Thinking I'd lie for you/ Jodeci 'Cry for You'" – with an extra flare for the dramatic.

Sampha appeared on and co-produced Drake's Nothing Was the Same track "Too Much." He's also prominently featured on "4422" from Drake's latest project, More Life.

Sampha released his solo debut, Process, in February. He's scheduled to open for the xx on their upcoming North American tour, which starts April 15th in San Francisco.
